What’s the difference between Jr. Red Starters, Jr. Red-Orange, Jr. Orange-Green, Jr. Green-Yellow, and Jr. High Performance classes?
Junior Red Starters: ages 4-7. This is a Beginner’s class using Red Balls on 36’ court. Players develop hand-eye coordination, basic ball- and racquet-handling skills, and begin to hit and play right away following USTA’s Quick Start guidelines.
Junior Red-Orange: ages 8-11. This is an Intermediate and Advanced class using Red Balls on 36’ court. This class covers Beginner skills for the older age group, who are able to learn them quickly, plus Intermediate and Advanced skills. Players learn to rally and play right away following USTA’s Quick Start guidelines. Focus is on the basic skills, rules, & strategy of the game. Goals are to develop sports skills, physical, & mental fitness.
Junior Orange-Green: ages 8-15. This is an Intermediate and Advanced class using Orange and Green Balls on 60’ and 78’ courts. Low intermediates to intermediate players preparing for match play and tournaments. Learn tactics and strategies, using a positive attitude and dealing with wins, losses and taking risks.
Junior Green-Yellow: ages 12-19. This is an Intermediate and Advanced class using Green and Yellow Balls on 78’ court. Strong Middle School, Jr. High, and High School players focusing on match play, strategies, conditioning, and tactics for singles and doubles.
Junior High Performance: ages 12-19. Designed for younger juniors training year-round, practicing one day per week, that are competing in USTA Championship and above tournaments. This is an invite only program and a try-out is required prior to registration. Maximum of 8 players.

What’s up with these different color balls and different size of courts.SJSRC fully supports and teaches tennis in the USTA format using different color and sizes of balls and court sizes depending on the age and ability of the kids.
